We chose a hike we'd never done before and it ended up being a new favorite.
Please forgive this extremely awkwardly standing picture.
Enjoying the wild mountain flowers.
The trail went up and over a mountain pass.
There were amazing views of multiple alpine lakes from the top.
It was covered in scree (my favorite).
Brian hiked to the top of the scree mountain after I incorrectly told him "it would take him forever to get up there!" (It was like 5 minutes and I was wrong.)
His view from the top:
Trying my hand at a panoramic shot.
Descending into Lofty Lake.
Howie was worried because his pack had been separated.
On high alert for Brian's return.
Enjoying the lake.
Moving onward we passed another alpine lake. You can really see how much the bark beetle has ravaged some parts of the forest. :-(
Lisa had a Sound of Music moment with Howie in a pretty field.
Another scenic photo opportunity.
This hike was extra great because it was a loop so we didn't have to backtrack at all. Every sight was fresh!
A few bonus pics from their visit:
