For Howie and Pogo's first camping trip we headed East of Park City to some forest roads not far from Mirror Lake. Howie was just over 3 months old at the time and we wanted to be fair so along with all our camping stuff we also brought both Howie AND Pogo's crates, which made for a tent that was nearly over capacity. The things you do for dogs.
After getting camp set up (OMG HOWIE WAS SO SMALL) we attempted to take some family photos with varying degrees of success.
The afternoon was warm and bright and we'd brought our swimsuits in expectation of camping closer to a swimmable lake - when that area was fuller than anticipated we ended up next to a far more marshy lake that didn't look too inviting. Regardless, we had our swimsuits and took advantage of the nice weather with some sunbathing.
Poor Pogo.
After putting Howie down for a nap (little bean) we had some one on one time with Uncle Pouges. As much as he wanted to pretend to hate every aspect of camping he had a pretty grand time dashing through the meadow and exploring with us.
We scooped up Howie after his nap and headed back out to explore by the lake. The boys were having a blast chasing and fighting over sticks. We tried to get Howie into the pond but he wasn't having it.
That night was the stereotypical SCREAM OH DARLING AT THE TOP OF YOUR LUNGS camp singalong combined with too many beers.
The next morning we awoke to some very cold mountain air.
Brian (who is always first out of the tent) gave Howie his breakfast and he gobbled it up then returned to his crate. Pogo started shivering so I swaddled him like a pathetic little fur baby and snuggled him till he warmed up.
Poor Pogo.
