City of Rocks, ID - July 29 - 30, 2017

We headed to City of Rocks fairly early on Saturday morning. It's located in far South central Idaho and was about a 3 hour drive on very lonely roads. IMG_8438 IMG_8443

There were some dispersed campgrounds 5 minutes or so from the entrance to City of Rocks. Not the most scenic juniper field but it worked. IMG_8445 IMG_3116 IMG_8446 IMG_3098

After having a welcoming beer we headed over to the park. It was pretty overcast which didn't make for the most flattering rock lighting. DSC_0393 DSC_0405 DSC_0411 DSC_0421 DSC_0426 DSC_0427 DSC_0431 DSC_0439 DSC_0448

Howie wasn't terribly impressed which we later realized was due to him being under the weather. DSC_0401

We headed back to camp and wandered around the immediate area which wasn't very exciting. We ate tinfoil dinners and had drinks and went to bed. Have I mentioned that we finally discovered how much more comfortable life is on the little inflatable mattresses? Well we finally did and it's great. IMG_3126 IMG_3127

The next morning, quite the view. IMG_8513

We packed up and returned to the acclaimed Rock City. DSC_0465 DSC_0466 DSC_0467 DSC_0473 DSC_0474 DSC_0475

It was pretty cool with the bright blue sky. Howie was feeling a little better and seemed happier to be out and about. DSC_0469

We decided to go on a little wander on one of the many hiking trails. DSC_0481 DSC_0482 DSC_0484 DSC_0490 DSC_0495 IMG_3142 IMG_3140 IMG_3144 DSC_0507 DSC_0519 DSC_0514

It was truly.....a city of rocks.
